Game consoles and appliance control boards

Mail-in from any US state. The same bench that rebuilds refrigeration and machine controls for commercial customers: a console with no picture is a broken HDMI port, and a washer stuck mid-cycle is usually a relay — both are repairs, not replacements.

What to send

Consoles whole, appliance boards bare

Getting this wrong wastes a shipment, so it is worth thirty seconds: one of these arrives in a box as it is, the other arrives as a board on its own.

Consoles — send the whole thing

Box the console up as it is. Do not open it and do not try to remove the board. Leave controllers and cables at home unless the fault involves them.

Appliances — send only the board

A washing machine cannot be shipped for anything like the price of the repair. Pull the control board, photograph every connector before you unplug it, and send the board on its own.

Why here

An industrial bench, pointed at your appliance

The same bench rebuilds commercial refrigeration, HVAC, well-pump, and industrial control boards every week. A board nobody else will quote — odd, discontinued, or out of a machine no parts counter stocks — is ordinary work here.

The same failures

A welded relay in a walk-in cooler and a welded relay in a dryer are the same fault on a different board. Commercial equipment runs continuously, so these failures turn up here first and often.

Discontinued is not a problem

A repair does not depend on the board being available to buy. The components on it are generic parts and those are still made, which is why a board the dealer no longer lists is still fixable.

Designed as well as repaired

This bench also does embedded firmware and PCB design. A board with no documentation gets traced rather than guessed at.

Not on the list

Something else with a board in it?

The list above is what comes in most often, not the limit. Board-level repair is the same discipline whatever the box around it — only the failure patterns change.

Ask before you ship it

Tell me what it is, what it was doing when it failed, and what is printed on the board. You get an honest answer about whether it is worth repairing — including when it is not.

A dishwasher board, a microwave, a treadmill console, a bench supply, an amplifier: all the same relays, connectors and dried capacitors as everything above.

Ask a question

Or just book it in

On the intake form, pick Something else under “Anything else” and describe it. Unlisted does not mean unwanted — it means there is no page for it yet.

Pricing is quoted before any work either way, and if it cannot be repaired you pay nothing for the work.

Getting it to the bench

Book it in first. An RMA number comes back the same business day, so it arrives with the paperwork already attached.

Wait for the RMA number before shipping.

Before you pack it

  • Photograph it before you touch anything — a console’s ports, or an appliance board in place with its connectors on. It is the single most useful thing you can send.
  • Note the make and model, and for a board the number printed on the board itself.
  • Write down what it was doing when it failed. Intermittent, heat-related, or straight after a storm all change what gets tested first.
  • Back up anything you cannot lose. Board repair does not touch storage, but no shop can guarantee data.

Before you replace it, send it.

A dealer control board often costs more than half the price of a new machine. If this bench cannot repair it, you pay nothing for the work and cover return shipping only.
