Refrigerator Control Board Repair — Mail-In
A fridge that will not hold temperature is usually diagnosed as a sealed-system problem and quoted as a new appliance, when the fault is a defrost board that stopped terminating or an inverter that stopped driving the compressor. Those are board repairs. Send the board — this bench does not open sealed systems, and does not need to.

What to send
Send the board, not the appliance
The appliance stays where it is. Shipping it would cost more than the repair and more than most machines are worth.
- Send the board, not the appliance
- Main control boards and temperature control boards
- Defrost control boards and defrost timers
- Compressor inverter and linear-compressor driver boards
- Display and dispenser interface boards
- Photograph the board in place, both sides, before unplugging anything
Symptoms
What it looks like from your side
These are the faults that most often turn out to be the board. None of them prove it — that is what the bench is for, and it costs you nothing if the answer is no.
- Fridge or freezer will not hold temperature, or only holds it part of the day
- Freezer coil iced over solid behind the back panel
- Compressor will not start, or clicks and stops
- Running constantly and never cycling off
- Display dead, dim, or stuck
- Ice maker or dispenser doing nothing
- Alarm or error that will not clear after the fault is gone
Failure modes
What actually fails, and why
The cause matters as much as the fault — a board replaced into the condition that killed it fails again.
Defrost circuit failure
The defrost heater draws real current through a relay or a triac on the board. When that output fails, the defrost cycle never runs, the coil ices over, and airflow stops — which presents as a temperature problem rather than an electrical one.
Inverter and compressor driver failure
Variable-speed compressors are driven from the board. The output stage fails and the compressor will not start, which gets misread as a seized compressor and a scrapped fridge.
Dried electrolytic capacitors
The board usually lives near the compressor deck, which is the hottest part of the appliance. The supply rail sags, the microcontroller browns out intermittently, and the fault appears random.
Damaged thermistor inputs
A shorted or wet temperature probe can take the board input with it. Replacing the probe alone leaves the board reading nonsense and the fridge running to the wrong target.
Condensate corrosion
Boards mounted where they catch dripping condensate corrode around vias and connector pins long before anything looks burnt. Cleaning is often the whole repair.
Why here
Why this bench, for a refrigerator control board
The same bench rebuilds commercial refrigeration, HVAC, well-pump, and industrial control boards every week. A board nobody else will quote — odd, discontinued, or out of a machine no parts counter stocks — is ordinary work here.
The same faults, on equipment that runs harder
A welded relay in a walk-in cooler and a welded relay in a dryer are the same fault on a different board. Commercial equipment runs continuously, so these failures turn up on this bench first and often — refrigeration, HVAC, well-pump and pivot controls, VFDs.
Discontinued is not a blocker
A repair does not depend on the board still being sold. The components on it are generic parts and those are still made, which is why a board the dealer has dropped is usually still fixable.

Getting it to the bench
Book it in first. An RMA number comes back the same business day.

Pack it properly
- Photograph it first. For a board, in place with the connectors still on.
- Anti-static bag for the board. Bubble wrap alone is not enough.
- Include the make and model, and what it was doing when it failed.
Questions
Refrigerator control boards — common questions
Do you work on the sealed system?
No. Opening a sealed refrigerant circuit requires EPA certification and is not offered here, mail-in or otherwise.
This is board repair only — which is what the fault usually is.
How do I know it is the board and not the compressor?
Often you do not, and that is the honest answer. A board that has stopped driving the compressor looks identical to a dead compressor from outside.
If you send the board and it tests good, you pay nothing for the work.
How much does it cost?
$149 flat for a refrigerator control board.
No diagnosis fee, and nothing for the work if it cannot be repaired.
How long does it take?
One to three days on the bench once it arrives, plus shipping each way.
What warranty do I get?
90 days. If the same fault returns in that time, the repair is free.

Board-level repair is the same discipline across all of it. Only the failure patterns change.
Not on the list? Ask anyway — a dishwasher board, a microwave, a treadmill console and a bench supply are the same work. Call (505) 309-0534, send a note through contact if you would rather write than call, or pick Something else on the intake form and describe it.
Before you replace it, send it.
From $149 — the full list is above. If it cannot be repaired there is nothing to pay for the work, and you cover return shipping only.
